My cover letters have reached a whole new level of “I Don’t Give A Fuck” that I’m calling either “Spunk” or “Moxie.”   I can’t decide. UPDATE:  Fastest response to a job inquiry yet!  That one might be a keeper.

Another Review of Something Most People Already...
So I’ve known of Mint.com for awhile now, but finally started using it last week.  It’s pretty great.  For someone who has a mostly cash based income and a problem controlling her spending this is incredible!   It helps you realize just how much money you are spending and on what.  It helps you set goals and budgets to keep those problem areas under control.  Its nice to check it out...

I Would Really Like to Know
What kind of response - exactly - are men looking for when they tell a woman to, “Smile!” Follwed by a wink or a smile of their own.  Do you expect me to genuinely smile? “Oh hey!” I’ll say, “Thank you for bringing to my attention that I wasn’t smiling because as a woman I should be smiling every second of every day - that was close!”  Do expect my...

One Town's War on Gay Teens - Rolling Stone →
Dean and I just debated last night whether gay marriage, specifically, but also equality for gays in all respects, would be attained within our life time.  I think it will, Dean thought we wouldn’t be lucky enough to see it.  Articles like this make it hard not to agree with him.  Not only is the content in regards to the gay community shocking, what our school systems have come to is...

3:49 am
So I’m awake right now. This is a new thing.  In the last couple weeks I’ve been waking up sometime around 3:00 - 5:00 just wide awake.  When I was little I was an insomniac for years.  I’m hoping this is not a new period of the same.  Luckily - unlike when you are 11 - when you are 25 you can just get out of bed and have some Tostito’s Hint of Lime chips while you ramble...

On Internet Doodles
For anyone doing illustrations out there. I would appreciate it from now on if you’re going to post your cute/awesome/funny/beautiful doodles on the internet that you also have a print version available for me to buy.  Or at least to bookmark to buy later. Thanks in advance for accommodating this.

Applying for Jobs Tip #67
When adjusting your cover letter for the 107th time don’t forget to change key words like, “magazine” to “firm” This will almost certainly ensure that you do not get the job.

Midnight in Paris - Really?
The following should be noted before continuing:  I love Woody Allen.  I love that he made a movie in Paris.  I liked all the cameos in the movie.  I wanted to like it so much, I saw it in the theater twice. Watching Midnight in Paris the second time through was painful.  All of the cameo scenes are fun to watch (Adrian Brody was incredible!), but I thought the two main characters were some of...

Dean: No, I suck at spelling.

On Subletting #2
Seriously what the fuck is our neighbor’s deal?  So much yelling.  Everyday.  Some options we’ve debated: crazy wife hater/abuser some kind of mental problem One thing that is certain is it’s really annoying.  We aren’t positive that there is a wife/someone that he’s yelling at because we never hear anyone respond.  It’s very unsettling to be watching the...

pepperrae asked: OH WAIT BURNING QUESTION: Does that de-piller contraption you bought online work at all? My clothes are all sad and I need help but no one I know except you has ever used one of those things. Thoughts? Praises? Scathing product reviews?

Oh, the internet. Sigh. Anyways, let me ask a question so this post is sufficiently distracting! What has made you feel the most New York so far and why?

On Subletting #1
This is hardly a sound proof apartment.  But it could be worse.  There is either a small child or a large-ish dog that lives above that likes to run back and forth the length of the apartment for 15 min at a time.  You can hear the TV next door, but you can’t quite make out the words.  And there is an adult male that likes to yell one phrase over and over.  Yesterday’s was, “Are...

2011: More of a Reflection than a Recap
Pretty good. Worked as a photo editor for a large portion of the year.  Decided that I love that. Worked as furniture designer’s assistant for awhile.  Decided I love that too. Some good friends became great friends. I did a LOT of karaoke. Didn’t read as many books as years past, but I did read some great ones. Met a lot of great people.  Incredible people.  The kind of people...
