"Striking Out"
This was another idea I had about a month ago that I was sure I would remember when I woke up in the morning. It was an idea for a movie that would be called, “Striking Out.” It was about a girl that was a hooker who worked bowling alleys and wasn’t very good at it. Until the bowling alley hooker, who was really good, took the new girl under her wing and taught her all her...

This is what I can remember from last night’s brainstorm on pharases we could trademark that zoos might what to use in the future for various specials events. “Hey Aligator, I’ll talk to you later” - A meeting for people that have trouble remembering to return phone calls, check voicemails, return emails, etc. It would take place near the aligators. “Lions Meet...

The end of Infinite Summer.
“It’s expected that the average age of the new Infinte Jest reader would be about twenty-five.” - Dave Eggers in the Forward to Infinite Jest Well, I did it.  (Pat on the back for finishing.)  I just finished Infinite Jest. I won’t pretend that I have any idea where to start talking about it.  I love the challenge that this book presents before you even have any idea what...

If I Were A Rich Girl
I know that money can’t make you happy.  But if I had any - I wouldn’t buy a big house.  Big houses kind of freak me out.  (I have an absurd fear of people being in my residence, in a malicious manor, without my knowing it, which i think would only be heightened the bigger the house.)  I wouldn’t get a crazy nice car.  All I want is a Volvo 240 in good condition. But I would buy...

9/11/01
I was 15 and it was our week of standardized testing, the ISTEP or whatever it was.  So all of us are locked in rooms filling in bubbles all day.  Our school started at 7:25 so the first plane must have hit around our second break.  And I remember some of the teachers gathering and talking quietly, me wondering what kind of scandal had happened during test taking.  Who got kicked out and for what?...

Tipsy Idea #1
A pod cast while I’m working Monday Night Football.  It’s called Sports Games and Stuff: Featuring Jenny From a Block and the other Brians.   The idea is a girl that hates football being coerced into talking about football with two guys that love football that are both named Brian (even though one is spelled Bryan).   Chances are I will run out of comments by halftime.

jayparkinsonmd: It’s a damn fine day. After four years of trying to consolidate my medical school loans, I just received in the mail my approval. I graduated from medical school in 2002 with over $270,000 worth of educational loans just from medical school. As of today, I currently owe… And I thought my $600 a month was steep!

Applying for Jobs
is many things exhausting  stressful nerve wracking well mostly those three things, I guess.  Just spent hours writing a cover letter, editing my resume, and selecting a portfolio to send. The difference with this job? I reallllly want it and would be incredible at it.  I know better than to get my hopes up, but I just can’t help it.

– The Diaries of Franz Kafka: 1910 - 1923.  I was in Unabridged checking out the incredible new Kafka covers (by Peter Mendelsund) and flipped open Diaries to this paragraph.  It made me want to read the rest of everything else he’s ever written. (I’ve only read Metamorphosis.)

Fail.
Well it seems that no American Eagle stores in Chicago sell the Aerie line.  Only in the suburbs or in Indina.  I should have looked into this before I spent 45 min riding the North Ave bus today.  (North Ave is under construction, AVOID by any means necessary).  So I am not able to demonstrate how ridiculous these bras are that I blogged about earlier.  But I’m sure you get the idea.
